Derrick Kirce - Associate Director

Derrick Kirce joined IRM in October of 2012 and made the transition to Better Tomorrows in 2013.

Derrick is severing his second term and as Associate Director with Better Tomorrows with supervisor responsibilities over the eight Florida sites.

During his time at Janie’s Garden, Derrick has implemented and partnered with community agencies to bring meaningful and impactful programs for the residents. His efforts and the impact Derrick made at Janie’s Garden lead him to be named The Jackie Jones Employee of the Year in 2015 by Better Tomorrows.

Programs like Homework Help/ Tutoring for kids, The Summer Reading Challenge which eliminates summer reading loss in partnership with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, S.T.E.M. programming in partnership with Education Foundation, Summer Feed program in partnership with Sarasota County Schools, and Brotherhood of Men mentoring program.

All of these programs supported youth education and career exploration. Some of the adult programs includes GED Prep in partnership with Sarasota County Schools, career exploration and job placement with Goodwill Manasota, financial education, home buyers education, health fairs, health screenings and referrals in partnership with Sarasota Health Department and CARES Outreach, emergency food service, senior engagement, and emergency financial assistance in partnership with the Community Foundation of Sarasota.

Derrick has over twenty-five years of leadership experience in the youth development, human services, and education world. His areas of particular experience are budget management, program creation and implementation, staff management and development, and partnership development. Weather it was in his role as Unit Director of the Roy McBean Boys & Girls Club, Director of Operations with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bens, Director of the WIA Youth program, or Vocational Coordinator for ESE at Venice High, all of these programs improved and participants benefited from Derrick’s direction and leadership.

Derrick Kirce was born and raised in Sarasota and returned home after his college and professional basketball career.

Derrick is the father of six adult kids and several grandchildren.
