Growing Opportunities, Launching Futures: A First Swing Toward Confidence and Connection

Golf might not be the sport most young people expect to try—but it offers something unique. It invites focus. It rewards patience. And it teaches self-trust, one swing at a time.

This summer, Better Tomorrows has introduced G.O.L.F. – Growing Opportunities, Launching Futures, a youth initiative created to make golf accessible for children in Camden, Philadelphia, Mississippi, and beyond. We’re now in Week 3 of our six-week program, and it’s giving young participants a space to experience golf for the first time—no pressure, no experience required—just support, encouragement, and a chance to try something new.

This program isn’t just about the mechanics of the game. It’s about exposure, access, and unlocking potential. Golf holds a distinct place in both athletic and professional circles. It’s often the backdrop for networking, mentorship, and decision-making among business leaders. While we value the impact of all sports, G.O.L.F. introduces young people to a setting they may not typically encounter—offering skills and experiences that could help shape their future.

Each week, our young golfers develop fundamentals while gaining valuable life skills: concentration, resilience, teamwork, and pride in their progress. Each swing becomes a step toward personal growth and new opportunities. Some are already showing serious talent!

We’re grateful to PeopleShare for their generous support and contribution toward transportation costs—an essential part of making participation possible. Thanks to the Camden Housing Authority, including COO Al Dyer, for their support and connection with the Camden County Driving Range, whose donation of equipment and facility access allows youth in Camden and Philadelphia to learn and play in a real golf environment.

We would also like to thank the Michaels Organization, Conner Strong & Buckelew, and NFI for selecting Better Tomorrows as the beneficiary of their Fourth of July celebration at the TRIAD1828 Centre. Their support is helping fuel this summer’s youth golf initiative—expanding access and opportunity for young participants across our sites..

Although launched as a summer program, the G.O.L.F. initiative was built with broad participation in mind from day one. With sites in Mississippi, Camden, and Philadelphia actively involved, this first season brings together youth from multiple communities under a shared mission: to explore golf, build skills, and unlock possibilities. As interest continues to grow, we’re committed to expanding access wherever it’s needed most.

Each stance, each moment of focus, and each new challenge builds toward something bigger. G.O.L.F. – Growing Opportunities, Launching Futures gives youth a chance to unlock a world of possibilities—this summer and beyond.

Program – Youth Golf Initiative helps us provide instruction, mentorship, and essential resources that make youth participation a reality.
